I Golden Globe 2020 sono alle porte. La 77a puntata annuale dei Golden Globes si terrà domenica 5 gennaio 2020 e sarà ospitata da Ricky Gervais. I premi saranno trasmessi in diretta su NBC, in Italia la cerimonia dei Globes 2020 andrà in onda nella notte tra il 5 e il 6 gennaio, dalle 00:55 alle 05.30. La cerimonia andrà in onda, in esclusiva, su Sky Atlantic (canale 110 di Sky) e Sky TG24 (solo sui canali 100 e 500 di Sky) .
Mentre l’impatto dei Globes su eventuali candidati all’Oscar è discutibile (a volte i Globes e altri premi dell’industria dell’intrattenimento sono visti come fattori determinanti su chi sarà nominato e alla fine vincerà agli Oscar), la cerimonia di premiazione è generalmente considerata una delle altri eventi divertenti della stagione. L’alcol viene servito e l’atmosfera tende ad essere più schietta, divertente e leggera.
Organizzato dalla Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), i Golden Globes onorano il successo sia in televisione che nel cinema; di solito, quelle sfere di intrattenimento sono riconosciute separatamente.
Una delle grandi storie con le nomination ai Golden Globe del 2020 è l’enorme successo di Netflix: Marriage Story ha ottenuto sei nomination, The Irishman ne ha conquistate cinque e The Two Papes ne ha quattro. Marriage Story guida l’intero campo cinematografico.
Degno di nota è anche il Joker carico di polemiche di Todd Phillips. Il film ha ottenuto quattro cenni, tra cui il miglior film drammatico, Joaquin Phoenix come miglior attore in un film drammatico e Phillips come miglior regista di un film.
Nelle categorie televisive, Chernobyl di HBO e The Crown e Unbelievable di Netflix guidano le nomination con quattro ciascuno.
Inoltre, il nascente servizio di streaming Apple di Apple TV + ha ottenuto la sua prima nomination al premio TV, con The Morning Show riconosciuto per la migliore serie televisiva – Drama. Due delle star della serie, Jennifer Aniston e Reese Witherspoon, sono anche nominate, nella migliore interpretazione di un’attrice in una serie televisiva – categoria drammatica.
