Halsey ha pubblicato il suo secondo album, “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom”, quasi un anno fa, ma il mese scorso ha dato nuova vita al disco condividendo una versione remixata del brano “Alone“, dove l’artista collabora insieme a Big Sean e Stefflon Don. Ora la canzone ha un nuovo video, ed al suo interno, Halsey fa del suo meglio per affrontare un dolore legato a una vecchia fiamma.
Nel video, co-diretto da Hannah Lux Davis e Halsey, l’artista si ritrova in una festa ed è preoccuppata dalla presenza del suo ex, che si vede con un’altra donna. Da lì, cerca tutti i modi per distrarsi ed alla fine trova il modo di divertirsi, indipendentemente dalla situazione. Poiché il video è tratta dalla versione remix, nel video si vedono anche Big Sean e Stefflon Don.
Halsey ha spiegato in precedenza il significato della canzone in un video su Twitter da quando l’album è uscito a giugno 2017, confrontandolo con The Great Gatsby e dicendo che è un compagno del brano “Heaven In Hiding” di Hopeless Fountain Kingdom: “”Alone’ è un po ‘come questo [The Great] Gatsby vibe: questa persona, questa farfalla sociale, ambientata nella festa in maschera nella casa dei Capuleti di Romeo e Giulietta . È la prospettiva di una persona e “Heaven In Hiding” è un’altra prospettiva della stessa festa. Quindi ‘Alone’ e ‘Heaven In Hiding’ sono due personaggi che vivono la stessa festa in due modi diversi, che ho pensato fosse davvero interessante, per dare la stessa esperienza ma da due diverse prospettive. “
