Gotham Awards: chi sono i favoriti per cinema e tv?

L’annuncio delle nomination ai Gotham Awards del 2022 il 21 ottobre è l’inizio della stagione dei premi. Questi premi sono presentati dall’Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) e premiano i migliori film americani dell’anno con budget inferiori a 35 milioni di dollari.

Quali film guidano le nomination?

Per quanto riguarda i film, due film di Netflix guidano il conteggio, entrambi di prime registe: “Passing” di Rebecca Hall e “The Lost Daughter” di Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Premi televisivi

i Gothams offriranno un primo assaggio di come nuovi potenti contendenti, tra cui “Squid Game” di Netflix e “The White Lotus” di HBO, potrebbero essere nelle future competizioni. Per “Squid Game”, Netflix punta a fare la storia questa stagione dei premi invernali, poiché il thriller sudcoreano potrebbe essere potenzialmente la prima serie in lingua non inglese a entrare nel gioco dei complimenti.

I Gotham Awards hanno una valenza per gli Oacar?

Questi premi saranno un’anteprima degli Oscar? Puo darsi. Il grande vincitore dello scorso anno è stato “Nomadland”, che ha vinto anche come miglior film agli Oscar. Tuttavia, quella era l’eccezione piuttosto che la regola. Nessuna delle sue concorrenti ai Gothams – “The Assistant”, “First Cow”, “Never Rarely Talvolta Always” e “Relic” – ha raccolto le offerte degli Oscar. “The Good Lord Bird” di Showtime, nominato in forma lunga e performance in una nuova serie (Ethan Hawke), e “The Underground Railroad” di Amazon Prime Video (longform e Thuso Mbedu ). Altri programmi con più nomine includono tre nella gara in forma breve: “Hacks”, “Reservation Dogs” e “We Are Lady Parts”.
